Leo earns England Under-19 selection after strong season

Tonbridge cricketer Leo (CH5) has been selected for the England Under-19 squad for a Test match against Pakistan, following a season of strong performances at age-group level.

Leo captained Kent Under-18s to the national T20 final, where they were defeated by Warwickshire. He finished the competition as its leading run-scorer, helping to secure his selection for London and East at the Super 4s tournament.

During the week-long Super 4s competition, Leo again led the scoring, making 126 against the North. His performances across the season subsequently earned him a place in the England Under-19 squad.

He has since made his mark in the Test match against Pakistan, scoring 107 in England Under-19s’ second innings at Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground.

Leo said, “I was very happy to be selected for England u19s. It has been a goal of mine to make the team for a long while now. When I was told I felt an enormous sense of accomplishment.”

Leo’s selection continues Tonbridge’s long association with representative cricket. The school has produced a number of England cricketers, including Colin Cowdrey, Roger Prideaux, Chris Cowdrey, Richard Ellison and Ed Smith.

His progression from Kent Under-18 captain to the England Under-19 squad marks a significant step in his development and provides recognition of a season in which he has consistently performed at the highest levels of age-group cricket.
