Novi Scholars’ Evening
The Novi Scholars’ Evening is the first musical event of the year, after just two days. This informal showcase provides an opportunity for scholars to share their musical abilities with fellow pupils, teachers and parents. The varied programme featured performances on piano, violin, cello, double bass, drums and voice. The repertoire chosen was equally varied, ranging from solo music by Bach and Brahms to concerto movements by Mendelssohn and Shostakovich, alongside more contemporary pieces by Jimi Hendrix, Wang Jianzhong and Joanna MacGregor.
The evening gave our Novi scholars the opportunity to perform for an invited audience, to develop their confidence as musicians, and for the families to meet each other and new teachers. Congratulations to all our performers. We look forward to seeing their continued musical development throughout their first year at Tonbridge.
