Upper Sixth explore leadership, purpose and the future of work
Upper Sixth pupils gathered for a dedicated Pastoral Day focused on leadership, purpose and the changing nature of the workplace, hearing from two distinguished speakers whose careers have been shaped by service and social impact.
The day opened with talks from Rob Thomson Chief Strategy Officer at The HALO Trust and former Major General in the British Army, and James Darley, founder of Transform Society and a leading advocate for purpose-driven careers. Both encouraged students to think carefully about what meaningful leadership looks like and how personal values can shape future career choices.
Drawing on experiences ranging from military command to graduate recruitment and public service, the speakers explored themes including decision-making, integrity, responsibility and finding purpose in professional life. Students then took part in a panel discussion and classroom-based breakout sessions, where they were able to reflect on the ideas presented and consider how they might apply them to their own futures.
The event forms part of Tonbridge’s ongoing commitment to preparing boys not only for university and employment, but also for lives of purpose, leadership and contribution.
