Old Tonbridgian selected for Hong Kong China U20 Rugby Tour
Old Tonbridgian Sam Blackburn (Sc 21-26) has been selected to represent Hong Kong China U20s in the Rugby Challenger Cup following an intensive eight-week training camp and selection process.
After a summer of dedicated training, Sam departs for Chile this week as part of a three-week international tour. Although one of the younger players in the squad, he is looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to compete on the international stage.
The tour will see the Hong Kong China U20 squad face a strong field of opposition, including Chile, Canada, Namibia, Brazil, Belgium, Romania and Portugal. Their opening fixture takes place against Chile on 2 October.
Rhys Crane, Director of Rugby said, “Sam is a very gifted all-round athlete and has shown clearly that he is a naturally talented rugby player.”
We wish Sam all the very best for a successful tour.
