History comes to life on Berlin trip
Tonbridge pupils explored some of the defining events of 20th-century European history during our biennial History and Modern Languages trip to Berlin.
The trip gave Second and Third Year pupils the opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom and experience the historical and cultural significance of the German capital.
The programme included visits to key historical sites, including the Olympiastadion, built for the 1936 Olympic Games; Sachsenhausen concentration camp; Wannsee; the Holocaust Memorial; a former Stasi prison; Brandenburg Gate; and the Reichstag.
By visiting these important sites, pupils deepened their understanding of the forces and events that shaped Germany and Europe during the 20th century, while also experiencing German culture and daily life in Berlin.
Organised by the History and Modern Languages Departments, the trip provided a thought-provoking opportunity for pupils to engage directly with the people, places and events encountered through their studies.
