Welcome to our Community

As a School we believe in the power of connecting fine minds and good hearts.  Creating a strong sense of community is important to us, as is learning to appreciate the positive contribution that everyone can make.  This is why we value community partnerships so highly and why we are committed to collaborating with and learning from such a wide range of schools, charities and other partners.

The links that have been forged over many years mean that Tonbridge’s Community Programme is at the heart of every boy's experience. The relationships that individuals build during shared activities enrich the experience of all parties. All boys are actively involved in the programme throughout their school life.

Integral to Tonbridge

Throughout a pupil’s school journey there are many opportunities to work with our local community and partners, giving their time and skills, and learning through working with others.

All pupil’s are involved in key events, and many take the lead on charitable fundraising initiatives throughout the year.

In the most recent ISI inspection, inspectors highlighted as a significant strength the impact of our Community Engagement Programme in enhancing the boys’ confidence, communication and leadership skills.

The school encourages pupils to participate in an extensive range of community outreach activities. Many of these are pupil initiated and led. This very effectively develops pupils’ confidence, communication and leadership skills. This varied and dynamic programme is open to all pupils and all age groups. This is a significant strength of the school. This is recognised as such and appreciated by both pupils and parents.

Partnerships with impact

We ensure that our pupils and staff are meaningfully connected to the wider world, developing a strong sense of belonging to and serving their communities.

Our boys become well-rounded individuals who are grounded and outward looking, and leave the School expecting to make a positive contribution to their global and local communities. Our community benefits from the School’s facilities and expertise and our pupils understand their impact on our environment, and seek ways to make this less negative.

Each year, boys and staff volunteer over 25,000 hours of their time to projects in our local community and raise over £100,000 for local and national charities.

Read our new Community and Partnerships Impact Report for a snapshot of the breadth and variety of our community engagement.
