Parkside was purpose-built as a School boarding House in the 1880s and has since been regularly extended and renovated.
First Years share in two or four-person dormitories, before moving into single study bedrooms for the remaining four years. The House benefits from its quiet location on Dry Hill Crescent and from the multiple large common rooms which dominate the ground floor.
Past Parksiders include the best-selling author Frederick Forsyth and Norman Heatley, the scientist who turned the discovery of penicillin into useable medicine.

He was Head of History and Assistant Housemaster at Hillside before taking on Parkside. He coaches football and ultimate frisbee and has sung in the Chapel Choir. He is married to Rhiannon and they have two children: Zoë and Daniel.
About the Matron
Anna Hughes has been the Matron in Parkside since 2009 and is known to all the boys as ‘Tron’. She is their ‘go to’ person for pretty much everything – from a long chat to a quick ice-cream stop – and works hard to keep them all on track. Anna particularly enjoys playing tennis and is part of the tennis coaching team at the school. Tron is much loved for her no nonsense approach and straight talking.
