Success in Science
Over the course of the Lent Term, our students have achieved exceptional success across a range of prestigious competitions, including the Senior Physics Challenge, Intermediate Physics Challenge, and the Chemistry and Biology Olympiads. These accomplishments reflect both the depth of talent within the School and the dedication shown by students in pursuing academic excellence beyond the classroom.
Intermediate and Senior Physics Challenge
This year’s Intermediate Physics Challenge attracted over 6,000 students from more than 400 schools, making our results all the more impressive. In total, our students secured 7 silver medals and 19 bronze medals, an outstanding achievement in such a competitive field.
Particular recognition goes to two Novis: Leshui (JH1), who achieved a gold medal, and Ify (WH1), who was awarded a bronze medal. Their success is especially noteworthy given their stage of study.
Success continued in the Senior Physics Challenge, where our students delivered an exceptional performance, earning 9 gold medals in a competition involving over 10,000 participants from 800 schools. This places them firmly among the top performers nationally.
Outstanding achievement in the Chemistry and Biology Olympiads
This has also been a record-breaking year for Chemistry. Our students achieved an impressive 21 gold medals in the Chemistry Olympiad, a competition with approximately 17,000 entrants.
Among these high achievers, Yijun (PH4) stood out by progressing to Round 2 and securing an outstanding eighth place in the UK rankings. Yijun’s achievements did not stop there; he also qualified for the national finals of the Biology Olympiad.
Further highlighting the strength of our cohort, Wilson (PH3) and Noah (JH3) both received awards despite being in their third year, an exceptional accomplishment given that the competition is primarily aimed at Upper Sixth students.
