Outstanding A Level results 2026
The Tonbridge School community is celebrating another outstanding year of A Level results achieved by our Upper Sixth students.
Notably, over half of the cohort (81 students) have achieved three A* and A grades or higher; 72% of grades were A*-A, including 35% A*; and 94% of all grades awarded were A*, A or B.
Of particular note is Alex Chui’s achievement as the highest performer nationally in Cambridge OCR’s A Level Further Mathematics B (MEI) this summer. This follows his fifth gold medal in the 2026 International Maths Olympiad which cemented his place in IMO history as the competition’s most decorated participant.
More broadly, the boys’ excellent results have secured places at chosen destinations which include some of the world’s leading universities, such as: Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, the London School of Economics, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Durham, Bath, Exeter and UCL among others.
Interest in international world-class destinations is also continuing to expand. In addition to Europe and Asia, Canada and the US are now highly popular, with boys securing places at Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Tufts, UCLA amongst others, with several receiving multiple offers from both the Ivy League and Oxbridge.
James Priory, Headmaster, said, “We are incredibly proud of all that our 2026 leavers have achieved during their time at Tonbridge and especially of the young people that they have become, embodying Tonbridge’s ethos of Fine Minds and Good Hearts. It is great to see their intellectual curiosity and dedication rewarded in this year’s outstanding results. We look forward now to following our leavers’ progress at an exciting range of UK and international universities whilst continuing to support them with our Think 25 careers initiative.”
Think 25 is a strategic initiative developed by our Global Futures and alumni programmes to support current and former pupils with careers guidance, alumni engagement and broader life skills.
This summer Tonbridge has announced plans to introduce a co-educational Sixth Form, welcoming its first cohort of girls as day pupils in September 2028 and as boarders from September 2030. The plans are designed to enhance still further a Sixth Form experience already recognised as a ‘significant strength’ of the School and coincides with the celebration of Tonbridge’s 475th anniversary.
We look forward to welcoming prospective students at our dedicated Sixth Form Open Morning on 12 September. Please visit our admission pages on our website for more information.
