A record-breaking year for GCSE results
The Tonbridge School community is celebrating record-breaking results across the board at GCSE this summer.
A remarkable 50 per cent of results were awarded a 9, the highest grade possible; 79 per cent of grades were 9/8 (equivalent to A*), and 94 per cent of grades were 9-7 (equivalent to A*/A), making these the best GCSE results outside the Covid years.
Over half the year group (83 boys) have achieved nine or more 9, 8 or A* grades, adding to the outstanding A Level results celebrated last week. Read here for further detail.

Joining Sixth Form at Tonbridge
Tonbridge Sixth Form is one of the best in the country, recognised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate as a rare ‘significant strength’ (2024) for the exceptional quality of our curriculum and the rich educational experience provided.
This year over 95 per cent of students have progressed to their university of choice, including global and US top tier universities, Oxbridge and Russell Group.
The Good Schools Guide 2025 has endorsed the School for offering “intellectual stimulation at every turn, with sky-high academic standards” and providing, “an inspiring, ambitious, balanced education… anchored by life-enhancing skills, learning and friendships”.
Tonbridge has recently announced plans to introduce a co-educational Sixth Form, welcoming the first cohort of girls as day pupils in September 2028 and as boarders from September 2030. The plans are designed to further enhance our Sixth Form experience and coincide with the School’s 475th anniversary celebrations.
