Pink Day 2026
Tonbridge School was transformed into a sea of pink as pupils and staff came together for Pink Day 2026, a vibrant celebration of community spirit and compassion held in support of those affected by breast and other forms of cancer.
First launched in 2007 to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pink Day has become a highlight of the School calendar. Over the years, the initiative has raised nearly £60,000, while shining a light on the vital work of local cancer charities and the importance of staying alert to changes in our own health.
This year’s fundraising supported Breast Cancer Kent, with staff and boys proudly embracing the pink theme. The School grounds were transformed with hundreds of metres of pink fabric and vibrant lantern displays, while sales of pink sweets helped boost fundraising totals. Large banners were displayed at the front of the School, and the main buildings were adorned in pink as a visible demonstration of support for all those affected by cancer across our wider community.
Encouraging sustainability alongside fundraising, charity clothing stalls offered pre-loved pink items donated by the Demelza Hospice shop. The initiative raised over £1,200, while giving a second life to pre-loved fashion and making it easier for everyone to get involved in Pink Day.
The success of the day was made possible by the collective efforts of the entire School community. Boys and staff enthusiastically embraced the occasion, with hundreds dressing in pink and making donations to support the charity. Every contribution, regardless of size, helped make a difference, while the enthusiasm shown across the School created a fantastic atmosphere and demonstrated the strength of the Tonbridge community.
Particular thanks go to the Praes, the Chair and members of Tonbridge Community Council, and the members of Tonbridge Community Action who volunteered their time to help bring the event to life. From transforming the School with pink decorations and lanterns to running the second-hand clothing sale and packaging and selling pink sweets, their hard work, creativity and commitment were instrumental in making the day such a success.
Reflecting on the event, Mrs Alice Knight, Head of Community Action, said: “Pink Day is a fantastic tradition that brings our whole community together for an important cause. It gives boys the opportunity to learn more about cancer and the impact it has on so many families, while raising vital funds and having fun at the same time. I am incredibly proud of the way our boys and staff have embraced the day, and grateful for every donation made. Pink Day is a true team effort and a wonderful example of the generosity, compassion and community spirit that make Tonbridge such a special place.”
