The E.M. Forster Theatre opened in summer 2000, and contains a main auditorium, a studio theatre, a theatre workshop, and teaching rooms.
The modern proscenium arch theatre seats 370 people in comfort, with excellent panoramic views throughout and very good disabled access. It is a highly adaptable theatre with a large stage, orchestra pit, advanced lighting, sound and audio-visual facilities. Also situated within the complex is a Studio Theatre, with seating for up to 90, which is well suited to small-scale and experimental performances. The theatre is staffed by a Theatre Manager, a Marketing Officer, two Technicians and two part-time Wardrobe Assistants.
The theatre is linked into a single complex with the Vere Hodge Centre, which gathers all the creative and practical facilities of the school into one integrated building, designed to allow for the greatest flexibility of interaction between the various departments, all of which have their input to the work of the theatre.
