Boys who receive a Provisional Offer, having completed the ISEB pre-test and attended an assessment afternoon at Tonbridge during Year 6, will be invited to sit a final entrance exam in May of Year 7. This will be a competitive exam after which we anticipate that in the region of 50% of candidates will receive an unconditional offer of a place at Tonbridge. It should be noted that boys who receive an Unconditional Offer following the Year 6 assessment will not be asked to sit this exam, as their place will already have been secured.
Boys sitting the Year 7 final entrance exam will spend a day at Tonbridge early in the Summer Term. During this time they will complete a 60 minute mathematics paper and a 70 minute writing paper, as well as carrying out a short interview. The results of these different elements of the assessment will be considered alongside an updated report from each boy’s current school, leading to the issue of unconditional offers as considered appropriate.
Sample papers can be accessed below, along with a summary of the syllabus for the mathematics paper.
