Year 9 (13+) Entry
For those boys who receive a Provisional Offer, they will be invited to sit Provisional Exams in March of Year 7. Boys will complete a 60-minute mathematics paper and a 70-minute writing paper, as well as having a short interview. For sample papers, please see below.

Year 10 (14+) Entry
Please note, for entry in September 2026, the closing date for applications is 1 September 2025.
If your son performs well in any screening tests he undertakes or, in the case of UK-based boys has a very strong school report, he will be invited to sit mathematics and English entry examinations either at Tonbridge School or at an approved test centre overseas.
The examination date for all candidates is Wednesday 5 November 2025.

Year 12 (16+) Entry
The initial assessment is either conducted at one of our approved assessment centres, or through a school report for those in UK schools.
If your son performs well in the initial assessment, is predicted strong grades for the end of Year 11 (including predicted grades for GCSE), he will be invited to sit he will be invited to sit examinations in his chosen A Level subjects, in addition to an English Language Exam. These will take place either at Tonbridge School or at an approved test centre overseas on Saturday 1 November.
Based on the results of these exams, boys may be invited to an online interview with a subject specialist teacher.
Closing date for applications for Year 12 (16+) entry for September 2026:
