Players put on a good show at Prep School Festival

Tonbridge’s Prep School Festival for young rugby players made a welcome return last Sunday (23 January).
After a year’s break due to Covid restrictions, those taking part treated the crowd of parents and friends to an attractive spectacle.
Sides from Holmewood House, Milbourne Lodge, Marlborough House, The New Beacon, Northcote Lodge, Thomas’s Clapham and Yardley Court were represented in a series of age group competitions ranging from under 9s to under 13s.
In the under 12s and 13s contests, Thomas’s Clapham were unbeaten. In the under 11s, honours were even with Thomas’s Clapham, Milbourne Lodge and Yardley Court all beating each other. In the under 10s and 9s competitions, Yardley Court topped two closely fought pools.
Chris Morgan, the School’s Director of Sport, said: “With overhead conditions cold but dry, and the pitches in fantastic condition, we had a hugely enjoyable and fun festival. The players showed us all plenty of ability, as well as teamworking skills.”
