First XI claims the Frank Mason Trophy

The Tonbridge School 1st XI Hockey team delivered an exceptional performance at the Frank Mason Tournament, securing the championship for the first time in five years. The boys put on a dominating display in the group stage, remaining unbeaten with a 1-0 victory over Langley Park School for Boys, a 2-1 win against The King’s School, Canterbury, and a 2-0 triumph over St Lawrence College.

Advancing to the knockout stage, Tonbridge demonstrated their quality with a commanding 3-0 quarter-final victory against Sutton Valence School. In a hard-fought semi-final, they displayed resilience and determination to secure a second win over St Lawrence College, edging them out 1-0.

The final against Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School was a thrilling contest, with Tonbridge coming from behind to draw 1-1. The match was decided by penalty shuffles, where Luke (PH5), Robin (FH5), and Oliver (PS2) stepped up to take the decisive shots. Goalkeeper Seb (HS4) delivered a standout performance, saving both penalty shuffles to secure a 2-0 victory in the shootout and clinch the title.

The team’s success was a testament to their collective effort, professionalism, and unwavering spirit throughout the tournament.
