Friday Night Lights for The New Beacon and Sevenoaks Prep
The School proudly welcomed the next generation of aspiring rugby talent on Friday evening, as boys from The New Beacon and Sevenoaks Prep took to The Fifty for an exciting match under the lights. The fixture not only showcased emerging skill and enthusiasm, but also highlighted the strong connection between Tonbridge and The New Beacon communities.
The New Beacon’s Director of Sport, Owen Herbert, reflected:
What a fantastic experience for the 18 New Beacon boys to play on The Fifty, home to the Tonbridge School 1st XV. What made it even more special was that Rhys Crane, Tonbridge’s Director of Rugby, was refereeing the fixture, allowing the boys to demonstrate their passion, commitment and skills to him.
This sense of occasion was felt throughout the evening, contributing to what has become an exciting and expanding programme of opportunities for New Beacon boys on Tonbridge grounds.
Owen continued:
Everything from searching for Ben Earl’s name in the rugby and cricket changing rooms before the game, to the post-match presentation and food, made it such a memorable evening for boys, parents and staff alike.
The event also offered the boys a glimpse of the pathways and possibilities that lie ahead, both on and off the field.
We look forward to following the sporting and academic journeys of these boys from both schools, and hope to see many of them run out onto The Fifty once again in the years to come.
