Success in the History Bee and Bowl
The International History Bee and Bowl took place this Sunday at Trinity School, Croydon, with 17 Tonbridge boys travelling to compete in the prestigious annual quiz competition.
In the History Bee, students competed individually in a fast-paced test of historical knowledge, while the History Bowl saw teams of four collaborate to answer challenging questions in a format reminiscent of University Challenge.
The boys represented the School superbly. Peter (PS4), our strongest individual competitor, achieved an outstanding fourth place nationally in the Senior competition.
Meanwhile, our Sixth Form team in the Varsity Bowl came second overall, narrowly losing on the final question of the semi-final to Cheltenham Ladies’ College, who went on to claim the overall title.
Head of History, Noah Hillyard, said:
There was some exceptional quizzing and, with 33 teams represented at the event, the Senior Team did incredibly well to reach the semi-finals, where they were pipped on the final question. We look forward to returning next year with renewed determination and hope to go one step further.
