Tonbridge Mathematics team celebrate national success
Over the past few months, our Mathematics teams have achieved outstanding success at national level.
The senior team finished joint first at the national finals in Manchester, delivering an exceptional performance and achieving a perfect score in the mathematical challenges. This marks a particularly significant milestone, as it was the first time the competition had been held since the pandemic, meaning current Tonbridgians had not previously had the opportunity to represent the School on the national stage.
Meanwhile, our junior team, competing in partnership with The New Beacon, won their local heat and have now qualified for the national final in Manchester this June, an excellent achievement and a testament to their dedication and teamwork. They dropped only six marks out of a possible 200, surpassing the likes of St Paul’s School, Eltham College, The King’s School Canterbury and Benenden School.
Head of Mathematics, Owen Elton, said:
We are thrilled that our senior team was placed joint first at February’s national finals in Manchester. Their perfect score in the mathematical problems is testament to their enthusiasm and expertise in the subject. We are equally excited that our junior team, in partnership with The New Beacon, has qualified for the national final in June. I am grateful to colleagues in the Maths Department for everything they do to nurture our talented boys.
