Tonbridge School Athletics Club enjoys record-breaking weekend

The Tonbridge School Athletics Club had an exceptional weekend as their Junior, Intermediate, and Senior teams competed against strong opposition from Eton, Whitgift, Dulwich, and St Paul’s. All three teams secured top-three finishes in their respective categories, with the Senior team emerging victorious, scoring an impressive 223 points against a field of talented competitors.

The event saw multiple records fall, most notably in the Senior 100m. Max (WH4) delivered an outstanding performance, clocking a remarkable 10.5 seconds to break the previous record of 10.81 seconds, held by Old Tonbridgian, Zac Nwogwugwu (HS 17-22). Zac, now a standout athlete at MIT and a recipient of US Track and Field & Cross Country All-New England honours, serves as an inspiration for this new generation of Tonbridge track athletes to follow in his footsteps.

In the Senior 110m Hurdles, Jude (SH5) delivered an outstanding performance, recording a time of 15.5 seconds, marking the third-fastest time in the School’s history. Similarly, Joel (Sc2) achieved an impressive result in the Intermediate Triple Jump, posting a distance of 12.31 metres, ranking third in the School’s records.

In the Junior category, emerging talent Sebby (SH1) demonstrated remarkable versatility. He recorded the fourth-best javelin throw in School history with a distance of 41.40 metres and also secured top-six rankings in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump events.
