Superb displays in the National Rackets Doubles Championships
The School was represented by nine pairs at the Queen’s Club this week for the National Schools’ Rackets Doubles Championships, where pupils competed across a range of age categories against strong opposition from leading schools.
The most notable progress was made in the junior events. In the 15A competition, Freddie (Sc2) and Xander (WH2) produced a composed series of performances to reach the semi-final stage. Their run came to an end against the top-seeded pair from St Paul’s School, in a match that required sustained discipline and resilience.
A similar outcome followed in the Under 16A competition, where Will (CH3) and Sammy (PH3), seeded first, advanced to the semi-finals with a number of assured displays. They were eventually defeated by a well-prepared pair from Eton College, who were in strong form on the day.
The senior pairs found the latter stages more difficult to reach, although there were several encouraging performances earlier in the week. Notably, Charlie (FH5) and Ed (FH5) delivered a controlled and efficient victory over Marlborough College, winning in three sets without conceding a point.
Overall, the Championships provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to compete at a high standard, with the junior results in particular reflecting steady development and competitive intent.
