Novi geographers take on the Ardèche
During the half-term break, Novi geographers, alongside students from Kent College, Pembury, travelled to the Ardèche region of France. The academic focus of the trip was to immerse students in the region’s distinctive limestone landscape, supporting their studies within the geography curriculum.
A particular highlight was a visit to l’Aven d’Orgnac, a spectacular 5km-long cave system designated a ‘Grand Site de France’. The cave features vast chambers, some almost as long as a football stadium.
The trip also offered plenty of adventure. Students spent two days canoeing through the stunning Ardèche Gorge, including an overnight bivouac, and took part in a range of activities such as potholing, climbing and high ropes challenges.
They embraced camping life, sharing their tents with a variety of local wildlife, including some enormous toads, and adapted well to the unseasonably hot weather.
